What Meaningful, Positive Changes Have You Planned?

The buzz for the last week or so – just like the year before and the year before that – has been about “resolutions”. A resolution could be defined as a decision to do something or to behave in a certain way. So many of us, each year, talk about what we will do different in the coming year.
The biggies? “I will lose 30 pounds!”. “I will get to the gym!”. “I will give up smoking!”. “That was my last drink!”. Any of these sound familiar??
These are wonderful intentions that can have incredible health benefits. But when was the last time you, or someone you know, said, “I will exercise and develop my brain!” Is it possible that many of the other resolutions could be made easier by developing better mental health? I can hear it now: “Yep! Just got back from a good workout and boy is my mind sore!”.
The gyms will be flooded with new memberships this month. People will flock there to tone up, lose weight and just get a little exercise. The secret the gym managers are not telling you is that, although you have joined and the place is busting at the seams, it will empty out over the next few months. Don’t worry – you’ll join again next year!
How about taking care of improving your mental health first. How many of you are planning to “upgrade” your mental condition as a New Year’s resolution? Develop good positive behaviors. Master our minds. Is it possible we have been working on the wrong muscles all these years?
Support groups can create huge changes in your perspective. The new ADHD Support Academy is the place to go to develop your strengths and learn the strategies to overcome your weaknesses, all in a tight-knit, committed and supportive environment. Others don’t understand you? Or your kids? We do. This is the place to find support, understanding, challenges for your growth and the paths that can make success a little easier.
I am resolved to grow in mind and body this year. My greatest resolution? To help those who are in pain and struggling with their ADHD difficulties and hopefully learn a few things along the way.
